This is my entry into the "Imagination Expand Challenge 3" contest. You can see a version where the line is more pronounced here: [link]
When I was browsing the contests, this one in particular caught my attention because one of my favorite games to play with my friends is what we call the "Doodle Game" or "Squiggle Game" where one person draws a line and the other makes something out of it. This contest seemed like the perfect match for my creative juices, so I went for it. I have to admit that the final product does not mirror the exact image that came to mind when I saw the line, but it is a close second. I originally thought of a lighthouse by the sea with clouds billowing overhead, but I wanted to add a little more spice to the often-painted scene. Also, the angle in the line on the bottom right-hand corner reminded me of an arm, so I thought I could stick a person in there drawing this squiggle-inspired world as it comes to life. With the resources I had at hand, I went with a self-portrait type of painting in a "style" that I have been exploring recently. I used my favorite medium--watercolor--as well as 7B pencil. And I should not forget one of the most important ingredients! Imagination.
